This is a very important meeting for residents of Mulock Avenue to attend. Though a seemingly simple addition, whether or not this zoning variance passes has the potential to decide whether the street remains rife with rooming houses and rehab centres or becomes something better.
your comment indicates there are more rooming houses and rehab centers than this one , would you know how many?
Perhaps I should have said "area" instead of street.
That said, while I have no firm numbers, Keele south of Hirons has some obvious rooming houses, and Mulock has at least a couple of buildings which advertise rooms for rent (as opposed to full apartments, etc.).
Several residents who have been here for a while (10 years or more) have expressed their on-going concern with 88 Mulock to myself and others on the street. We have a lot of good developments going on in the neighbourhood (rooming houses converted to single family residences, renters and owners who look after the community spaces, etc.), it would be a shame to see the area slide backwards at this juncture.
Sarah is right about this street, it is one of the up and coming streets in the Juncion and hopefully the positive anchor for the Northwest Junction, many positive things have happened here in the last couple of years. Expansion of 88 is not what the street needs at this time.
I've only lived on Mulock Ave. for a few years now, but have seen remarkable improvements in that short time. The endurance of this small, tree-lined, family neighbourhood, for almost a century is astounding, and something to be protected.
