So St. Clair & Runnymede are considered "The Junction" as well now?
Historically yes and what this blog adheres to.. the store actually sits on land once used for the CPR Toronto west yard.
Nope. Never the Junction nor part of West Toronto. West of Runnymede Road was York Township and was eventually taken over by the City of Toronto. The land was part of CPR Lambton Yard most of which remains in use for freight trains.
CPR historian retired.
No, West Toronto yard only goes up to Runnymede Road. West of Runnymede, it's Lambton Yard. The WTJHS's map is a good source on the matter of boundaries. This area isn't part of the Junction, but still in the periphery, so at least the occasional look isn't completely unexpected.
Today, the boundaries encompass a smaller area, but it's fair to say that St. Clair West between Keele and Runnymede is still part of the Junction with the Stock Yards legacy still quite clear, for better or for worse.
