It’s official: High Parks cherry trees are expected to be in full bloom again this year, nature always insures the blossoming. Blooming usually happens near the end of April and the 1st week of May, and are always beautiful.

Last year, the much-anticipated season was severely affected by the first wave of Covid-19 in Canada. Unfortunately, this year May be the same.

 

Virtual Blossom Viewing was offered in 2020

To encourage everyone to stay home and stay safe, the City of Toronto offered virtual cherry blossom experiences including a 24-hour BloomCam and live tours during the peak bloom period in early May.

Live tours were conducted on May 3 and 5 on Instagram and Youtube highlights included a video tour through the blossoming trees along Cherry Lane and Experts from Parks, Forestry and Recreation and guided viewers through the nature and history of Toronto’s cherry blossom trees.
