St Cecilia school Annette St yard and parking lot undergoing overhaul.

St Cecilia school at 355 Annette Street is overhauling its parking and side yard currently.

Wiltshire industrial units

Wiltshire Rd at the root of where it starts had a set industrial units, probably formed from the subdividing of the large buildings into which they were put.

What is very interesting is the rear buildings of the lot. There placement provides a hidden enclave, far the street. (see 1st image above)

Also the setup of the buildings provides a parking court and loading unloading facilities.

Shaky shaky with excitement, International Cheese trucks have appeared in one of the Truck bays of the old Canada Bread Factory

Is international Cheese expanding ?

The blog has sent them an email asking if so.

Hopefully it is, medium size artisan businesses such this one contribute a lot to the community – activity, access to good products at factory stores, employment, industrial continuation. Above all they contribute to a mixed community use of residential and light commercial so needed in areas made of railways, large shopping areas, and sporadic large I dust rial uses. (which are just now to bear on this area fully as a new large retail area joins the original stockyards development)

Expanding into a building with off street parking is also a boon to the residential community as it moves trucks off the streets, trucks on the local streets has long been a issue for local residents.

Hopefully the company will let us know what’s up.

On the site of what used to be the Nina Ricci jewellery factory on Old Weston Road a great big brick light industrial development

The site just after demo of the Nina Ricci factory

On the site of what used to be the Nina Ricci jewellery factory on Old Weston Road in the Carleton Village, Ward 17 area a developer is planning a large industrial development.

Located on Old Weston Rd just north of Junction Rd and south of the Davenport Rd and Old Weston Rd intersection this development will be the largest industrial development in the Junction in over 3 decades. The last major industrial Building designed and built for purpose was the Keele Centre.

The blog is half to see what appears to a light industrial use building in the artist rendering used on the sign.

Hopefully the developer has a business plan that attracts some of the technology firms that are now populating the Junction Triangle area.

The area within hearing and walking distance has no more need for small service industry uses as a motor repair, auto repair and window manufacturing.

There is a need for new excellent class buildings to serve creative and technological firms.

These types of small and medium companies can really spur the the creation of an active street use, and renewal in all areas.

West Toronto Diamond Project Junction Rd/ Old Weston Rd intersection work very heavy tonight

Imaged from Old Weston Rd.

New paint and wallpaper store opening soon.

A new paint and wallpaper store, may mean the addition of paint and wallpaper manufacturer brands to the Junction Area.
Any stores align themselves to certain brands or Devine local dealers for a particular brand.

Really hope this new will carry some clay based English paints – their color is so deep, and they are hard to find here.

Line ups in the the local Home Depot and the West Toronto Paint and Wallpaper which can timeless at times, may lessen as this new store opens.

Expect the sound of CPR track maintainable equipment today in the Junction

The crews just were having good fun blowing the equipment horns as left the Runnymede Rd yard just now.

A walk down the lane way between Ryding Ave St Clair W at Runnymede Rd

Wow a quonset hut which is rather new in a Junction lane way.

It’s always fun to walk down Lane-ways in Greater Junction Area. So much unusual construction methods can be seen as well as business specific mods made to builds for businesses long gone.

BABYLON from dedon.de a product reality decided by the public no matter want the firm wants, even avail yourself of a wet bum seat.

Dedon – a great furniture and object use company out of Germany has come out with a product ( will update the designers went the blog clarifies who they are) that has so many novel user decided uses, it is making this blog author giddy.

Just look at them, in all the sizes, shapes with hollows and flat top, there compressibility. You could decide a plunder of outdoor and especially outdoor public space such as parks uses.

Toy holders, fun barrels, roller barrels, outdoor theater seating for kids, small cozy seats for rather quiet adults or those who like to sit with their bum wet – just fill one of the larger ones with water and uses as one of the woman on the image is.

So much can be brought out of these great pieces. Would love to see these scattered around the local Greater Junction Area parks.

The amazing efforts of the Town Square in Sorauren Park project

They are going to turn the above into the image below.

Text below from the projects site

The new Town Square in Sorauren Park will bring the derelict space between the Fieldhouse and the old linseed factory back to life for community use. Help tear down the fence to expand the park!

The Town Square will be home for an expanded Farmers’ Market, for festivals and concerts, for picnics and gatherings, exhibitions and performances. It will feature a new community bake oven and community sinks for events. It will include a stage area for performing art. New benches, picnic tables, gardens, trees and landscaping will make it a true gathering place for the community.

Construction is planned for 2013.

FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN:

You can help build the Town Square. Purchase a Paver as a great gift for loved ones.

All donations over $10 receive a tax deductible charitable receipt. For donations over $100, your designated name will be recognized on the virtual Donor Wall and on a permanent donor wall to be erected at the Square.

The new community “Purchase A Paver” campaign is based on the successful Fieldhouse “Buy A Brick” campaign supported by generous families, individuals, businesses, foundations, politicians and many organizations. Our $40,000 goal will leverage another $40,000 from Live Green Toronto… every dollar counts more than ever!

You can donate online through our partnership with the Toronto Parks and Trees Foundation. Or click here to download the donation form to pay by cheque.

While the property is owned by the City of Toronto, and Parks, Forestry and Recreation will be part of the capital plan, the non-profit Wabash Building Society has committed to approximately half of the funds needed.

The WBS fundraising campaign will also target foundations, corporations, businesses and other sources. If you represent an organization that would like to contribute (for example, funding the pizza/bake oven or bike racks, etc.), please contact us directly.
