Recent images of the High-line in New York city

Eye candy really is what this post is all about. These are images taken by a Junction resident of the High Line in New York city during the 1st week of January.

The High Line is a 1-mile New York City linear park built on a 1.45-mile section of the former raised New York Central Railroad spur called the West Side Line, which runs along the lower west side. Text from Wikipedia.

  1. A.R. says:

The High Line represents impressively ambitious urban design. It’s a novel concept to turn an abandoned elevated railway corridor (something that many metropolitan cities have from the Victorian era) into a showpiece park that exposes people to beautiful new vistas of the often breathtaking landscape of a North American downtown and lets them relax literally above streets. It was derelict at one point, yet offered beautiful views and an evocative link to New York’s urban history. Too many people advocate demolition of such structures rather than doing something novel to unlock their potential as some of the most interesting spaces we have in cities just because when they’re abandoned and unattractive due to a lack of maintenance.
