3087 Dundas St. West window removal affects 5 buildings in the block

In what is a major renovation to the building at 3087 Dundas St. West the person or people doing the design elements regarding the work have removed the historic window types and are replacing them with flat as opposed to a pushed out bow windows.

The windows of the building were truly unique along this south side section of Dundas St. west running horizontally rather than running vertically as in the reminder of the block of  4 buildings. Sad.

On the upside they are increasing the density of the building which is nice.

The older style of windows suits the old architecture better, but as far as heritage buildings go, the one's somewhat industrial style is more forgiving of modern windows. In some European countries, changing the windows in a heritage building must be approved by an overseeing committee. It doesn't have to be much of a hassle as people go in knowing what to expect, and it's effective in maintaining architectural character.

Although, upon reading this post: http://breakingprojects.com/junctioneer/2011/09/16/another-dundas-building-undergoing-big-structural-changes-this-one-interior/comment-page-1/#comment-22263 and realizing it was bay windows that were removed, I must say it's disappointing. Stripping good architectural elements isn't acceptable. Once again, though, the architecture in this unusual case is forgiving because the centre block was differentiated from the beginning with, for instance, a different roofline.

... the centre block was differentiated, yes agree yet, i guess its the continual loss of the built fabric along the strip that is the part that determines the greater loss for me.
