This stretch of Dundas brought up in a comment is one the greatest challenges in the Greater Junction Area to become a pedestrianized and public and commercial useful area.
Right now the area is difficult to walk as a pedestrian and primarily serves as car interchange between Dupont Ave, Dundas W. and Annette St. Off to the south-west is a wonderful residential community and to the north-east begins the Junction Triangle – the full mix Junction area – just walk though its festooned with wonderful neighbourhoods and new commercial and digital industry with a small slice of the old industrial favor. Ok the blog went off topic there.
The intersection could easily be viewed as the western gateway to the Greater Junction Area? …and in need of some urban renewal respect?
Why is the area difficult to walk as a pedestrian? I walk from Bloor north on the east side to Keele. No problem except for crossing the wide space at Dupont where it comes up to meet Dundas at the south ramp.
Do you not find it very windy and cold in the winter, and cross from the south side of Dundas SSt. W. to the east side of Dupont St. involves a u turn that takes you all the to the Dupont Ave, Dundas W. and Annette St.
I don’t walk in this weather! Can’t follow you. There is no need to make a U turn. I walk along the east side to where the street splits off to go down to Dupont and I cross (carefully!) in line across automobile stop line and continue along the east side of Dundas past Dupont/Annette and continue to Keele.

I walk this regularly in most weather. And it is always colder and windier than the rest of my walk. Noisy too. With the people walking to the subway, would not cretins retail fare well? Hula girl seems to thrive.
I think this would be a good locale for a Red Light District.
I live there and agree. It’s a very awkward intersection. Walking the intersection is awful and driving west on Dupont and trying to get onto Dundas Southbound is extremely dangerous. It’s also has a lot of wasted space. It’s definitely in need of a makeover along with some better street planning.
