The development on the south side St Clair between Runnymede and Jane is kicking into high gear. The Old Mill Pontiac dealership has just opened a huge showroom which spans both sides of Jane Street along the rail line.
West of Wal-Mart a new plaza with about a half dozen outlets is being built. The only advertised tenant is TD Canada Trust, which is pictured here. I’m optimistic they won’t close the Dundas Street location about 100m south of this site but I’m sure they will.
The city was planning an avenues study for this area but with this development, the new shopping centre and the big blocks they won’t have much left to study.

Somehow I get the feeling that this entire area from of St Clair from Keele to Jane is starting to take shape like the big box development on Laird south of Eglinton, we have the existing stockyards, the Metro/LCBO/CIBC plaza, the Walmart and now with 30 Weston Rd and the new developments west of the Walmart, its turning into a retail mecca. With so much going in, there is still huge areas of traffic bottlenecks, like the traffic going North on Weston upto Rogers (the Keele Street jog/disconnect) and the Keele and Dundas bottlenecks. Does anyone know if traffic increase studies are being done and if anything is being considered to alleviate the problem?
The other building in the back of the lot, beside the rail corridor, behind the new TD bank(which will in fact replace the Dundas Street Branch) is a 6,400 square feet Dollarama dollar store. The bank and Dollarama are scheduled to fully open between March and April 2010.
