It’s 1958 and High Park is soon to have a permanent restaurant. The planned opening is May 15, and it will have both a dining room and a coffee shop and be able to seat 300 persons.
Located in the park’s concession building near Hillside Gardens, it will be called The Grenadier, after the pond. City Council signed a 10-year contract with Canterbury Foods Ltd., of Toronto, which will operate the restaurant.
There also will be a large parking area.
