Junction project on local laneways Junction Residents Assoc.

all text the group,

Hi neighbours,

Some Junction Residents are working on a community application for Laneway coLabs, a city-supported initiative led by The Laneway Project. Applications are due 20th April and if selected, the program will support residents in co-designing and revitalizing one of our laneways through public art, greening, seating, lighting, and more.

Our application focuses on the laneways north of Dundas St West between Keele and Runnymede, building on some of the improvements already made on Jackson Place last year, and proposing changes that would enhance the character and connectivity of the laneways through visual, functional, and community-driven improvements. (map: https://maps.app.goo.gl/dhL9KdLLJcCqXyy38).

A draft application is available here (and open to input): https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Q_a5yS8ELSkExpCPKW1237l7lsi8zOweqN38xsNoAbk/edit?usp=sharing

We’re looking for help from neighbours in a few ways:

  1. Co-leads: We need 2–4 more Neighbourhood Leads to be named on the application and help coordinate and represent the community if we’re selected. This role involves about 10–15 hours/month from May to September, including workshops, outreach, and helping with implementation. No specific experience is needed – just interest and availability!

  2. Suggestions of surfaces for greening or beautification (e.g. your garage door, laneway-adjacent wall, fence, etc.)

  3. Letters of support from residents and local stakeholders based on this template: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1iMCTuxE7s9z1xIrFBBXY7zAyAPYYRk8Qpw6KyG08dTM/edit?usp=sharing

  4. General input: Even if you don’t want to co-lead, we’d love your ideas for how to improve the laneway and what features you’d like to see.

If we’re successful with the application, there will be more opportunities this summer to shape the design.

To get involved, share any questions or ideas, please reach out to junctionra@gmail.com

Thanks so much!
