Just west of St Clair Ave. west and  Runnymede Road moving towards Jane St on the north side is filling out completely with  the current retail development the north side of St Clair Ave will be full.

This site for decades was home to transportation companies 1st the less than truckload division of the CPR and then Consolidated Fast Freight. then for another decade it was home to foundation of the freight building. Construction of the current new buildings all of the box type building architecture has been rapid.

The original rezoning notice said auto related businesses (such as tire store, muffler shop etc.) The TD Canada Trust bank is first to break that. Dollarrama will hold their own against Wal-Mart. It is the right neighborhood. The existing TD bank in the plaza on Dundas west of Runnymede will close. Too bad for the seniors that will move into the new residence across the street (Dundas) as there is no other bank since CIBC closed some years ago.

Walmart at St. Clair & Runnymede is currently starting their "inside the box" renovation to convert this location into a Walmart SUPER CENTRE. This internal renovation does not expand the size of the store but will better maximize the space within. Some departments will shrink (eg. Live Fish have been removed from Pet Department) to make room for more grocery products (produce mainly). All internal renovations will be complete by July. Look for a Grand Opening, New signage, and possibly permantly increased store hours by the end of July 2010.
