Update on large community health project coming to the Junction, in the old Police station

 

 

The long vacant police station at 209 Mavety Street has been the subject of a conversion to a community health center for a number of years now and now the city is considering amending local zoning to allow this use. A public meeting about the project will be held on November 15, 2023 Time: 9:30 a.m. (see below for complete details)

The trust of the zoning change is to create site specific provisions to allow a Community Health Centre use is permitted with no
conditions.

In addition to this process constructconnect.com is listing the site as having a  start conversion date of  April 1, 2025 and a End Date January 4, 2027, further detailing the project as Building Use: Medical with a value of  $7,000,000.00

The effort was first started by Four Villages Community Health Centre, non-profit, community governed, primary health care agency formed in 1991, who currently have a location at 3446 Dundas Street West. they have also recently amalgamated with Regeneration Community Services and Storefront Humber Inc. to form West Toronto Community Health Services,

The Toronto and East York Community Council, under the Planning Act, will hold a public meeting regarding the request to amend the Zoning By-law, Application Number 23 156329 STE 04 OZ, at 209 Mavety Street, by Urban Strategies Inc.

Proposal: The applicant seeks to amend the Zoning By-law to permit the use of a Community Health Centre at 209 Mavety Street.

Purpose of Public Meeting: The Toronto and East York Community Council will gather input, review the proposal, and any related materials to make recommendations. These recommendations will be forwarded to the Toronto City Council for consideration.
